Planting potatoes

The variety we picked is called Desirée, and it seems it's a very versatile potato in the kitchen. It is also highly resistant to drought, which is a good thing since we are not planning to water it frequently. This potato variety is supposed to be ready for harvesting in 90 days so, if all goes well, sometime in June we should have our crop! The dark stuff the potato seed is resting on in the picture is horse manure.

Edit: On March 28, the first signs of sprouting were reported! Initially, a few potato seeds were stolen by rabbits, but that stopped. Probably these were potatoes that were planted too close to the surface? Edit 2: here's how the plot looked like on April 3:
Edit 3: On June 2nd, we dug out three potato plants, which resulted in about 1kg of potatoes:
The plan is to come back in about 2 weeks to harvest the whole plot!
